News » Postal Service holding food drive tomorrow
May 11, 2012 The U.S. Postal Service is holding its annual food drive tomorrow in the Fox Cities, and around the country.
Appleton acting postmaster Diana Klapperich says people can leave non-perishable items in a bag, next to their mailbox.
Klapperich says they hold the event in the spring, because children are getting out of school soon, and they won't be able to eat breakfast and lunch there during the summer.
The food will go to local pantries, including the St. Joseph Food Program in Menasha. Development director Karen Ziemke says donations also slow down over the next few months because schools aren't holding donation drives.
It's the postal service's 20th annual "Stamp Out Hunger" drive. |
