News » Barrett concerned about the college vote
May 11, 2012 Voter turnout will be key for whichever side wins the recall election for governor next month, and Democrats are concerned about one of their key voting blocks being able to cast a ballot.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is the Democratic candidate that's taking on Governor Walker in the June 5 recall.
He says a 28-day residency requirement included in a new voter ID law will cause problems for college students who voted on campus in the primary, but are moving home for the summer. Barrett says they'll have to vote with an absentee ballot from their college voting district. He thinks the GOP is trying to suppress the Democratic vote.
Barrett made his comments during an hour-long talk with about two dozen supporters in De Pere Thursday afternoon. |
