News » Emergency Shelter had a busy 2011
May 15, 2012 The Emergency Shelter of the Fox Valley released it's annual report to the community this morning, and it's a story of greater need and strained resources.
Executive director Jerome Martin says 2011 was one of the busiest years the shelter has ever experienced. He says at one point during the year the shelter was in dire financial straits, but they ended the year in the black.
Martin says while the number of people staying at the shelter was up considerably in 2011, the average stay was just 34 days.
Martin says for much of 2011 there was a waiting list at the shelter, but that is no longer the case. He says many people are finding employment and permanent shelter. |
