News » Barrett not buying new job numbers
May 17, 2012 Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he's not buying claims from the Walker administration that the state gained 23,000 jobs last year.
Workforce development Secretary Reggie Newson released those numbers yesterday, contradicting an earlier report from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, which estimated that the state lost nearly 34,000 jobs last year.
Barrett is taking on Governor Walker in next month's recall election, and he says the new report is a political stunt. He feels state employees were working closely with the governor's campaign.
Barrett says even conservatives aren't buying the new job figures, because they are just coming out less than three weeks before the election. |
