News » G.B. chief excited to start new position
May 18, 2012 Green Bay's police chief says the process that led him to become the security director of the NFL's Tennessee Titans only took about two weeks.
Chief Jim Arts says a Titans official called him May 1 to see if he was interested in the job. He says he flew to Nashville for an interview on the May 9 and he accepted the position on Monday.
Arts says he wasn't looking to leave the Green Bay police department now. He says his plan was to retire at the end of 2013.
But Arts says there are only 32 security director positions in the NFL, and it's an opportunity that wouldn't likely be available next year. He says the process has been a whirlwind for his family.
Arts says he'll transition into his new job through mid-July. He says he's not sure how the police and fire commission will find his replacement, but members may name an interim chief while they search for a permanent successor. |
