News » Thompson reveals health care reform plans
May 21, 2012 A Republican candidate for U.S. Senate says it's easy to talk about repealing President Obama's federal health care reforms, but that's not the only answer.
Former Governor Tommy Thompson revealed a series of proposed changes this morning, in Green Bay.
Thompson wants to create tax credits for people who buy health insurance -- $2,500 for individuals, and $5,000 for families. He says that should save money for hospitals, because they have to foot the bill for treating the 50 million uninsured people in the country.
Thompson is also pushing for wellness incentives, quality incentives for hospitals, and nationwide caps on jury awards from lawsuits.
Thompson faces three Republicans in the August primary -- businessman Eric Hovde, former Congressman Mark Neumann, and Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald. |
