News » 'Click It or Ticket' campaign under way
May 21, 2012 Police are keeping a close eye on whether people are buckling up, starting today, during the Click-it or Ticket campaign.
Major Sandra Huxtable of the state bureau of transportation safety says officers wrote nearly 85,000 tickets for seatbelt violations last year, and that's second only to speeding. She says there were plenty of warnings that aren't counted in that tally.
Huxtable says the state has a primary enforcement seatbelt law, so officers can stop drivers if someone in the car isn't wearing a seatbelt. |
