News » Thompson: Recall overshadowing Senate race
May 22, 2012 He's campaigning in parts of the state, but one of the four Republicans in the race for U.S. Senate says people aren't interested in them right now.
Former Governor Tommy Thompson says it's because of the recall for governor. He says that's as it should be, because that's the top race in the state.
Thompson says once the recall for governor is over on June 5, the Republican candidates will have 45 days to get their message across, before the August 14 primary.
The former governor was in Green Bay yesterday to talk about his plans to reform health care.
Businessman Eric Hovde, Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald, and former Congressman Mark Neumann are also in the running for the GOP nomination.
Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin is the lone Democratic candidate. |
