News » Appleton students, AHA show off duplex
May 22, 2012 Some seniors at Appleton high schools, and the Appleton Housing Authority, are celebrating their latest project.
The district and the agency are putting the finishing touches on a wheelchair-accessible duplex on Apple Road, on the city's northeast side.
AHA executive director Debra Dillenberg says the partnership is a win-win because students get to learn valuable skills, and there are more opportunities for affordable housing in the city.
Adrian Perez of North high school worked on the project, and he says it was a unique experience, and probably one of the best things he's done in his life, so far.
The duplex was the fifth project for the students and the agency. So far, nearly 500 students have participated in the program. |
