News » FDIC: Finances improving in Wis.
May 25, 2012 A federal report shows people are getting a better handle on their finances.
Figures from the FDIC show the number of loan and lease payments that were at least 90 days behind, during the first quarter of this year, was down 46 percent from a year ago.
Mike Semmann of the Wisconsin Bankers Association says credit card holders also have less debt. He says banks extended more than $460 million in those loans in the first quarter, and that's down by nearly $1.5 billion.
Semmann says banks should have more money for new loans, since they don't have to set aside as much to cover for their anticipated losses. |
