News » S.S. Badger gets stuck on 1st trip of year
May 25, 2012 This year's maiden voyage across Lake Michigan turned out to be a rough one for a ferry that carries people and cars between Manitowoc and Ludington, Mich.
The S.S. Badger got stuck on a shoal for several hours, about 450 feet from the harbor in Manitowoc yesterday afternoon, on the way from Michigan.
Crews had to call in a tugboat to pull the ferry off the shoal, and get the passengers to shore.
Senior chief engineer Charles Cart says sediment often builds up in harbors along the Great Lakes during the winter. |
