News » Retired economist concerned about wages
May 29, 2012 A retired chief economist for the state says he's concerned about the increasing wage gap in Wisconsin, and the exodus of college graduates.
Terry Ludeman worked under Democratic and Republican governors. He says 40 years ago, the state was one among the best in the country, for its wage scale. Ludeman says now, Wisconsin is closer to states like Alabama and Mississippi.
Ludeman says the state needs to invest in the "new economy" to reverse the "brain drain" to the Twin Cities and the Chicago area. He says highly educated, young people are potential entrepreneurs, and the state needs them to develop new businesses. |
