News » Riverview Gardens taking shape
May 29, 2012 A former golf course in Appleton is gradually being turned into a large garden.
The non-profit group COTS bought the former Riverview Country Club last year, and manager Oren Jakobson says they're putting in their first garden beds this spring.
Jakobson says in a couple of weeks, they're going to plant some chestnut trees and hazelnut bushes. He says they'll also start working on some public biking and running trails on a part of the property.
COTS is developing the sustainable garden to help fight unemployment, poverty, and homelessness in the area. |
