News » Walker addresses $100k defense fund transfer
May 30, 2012 Governor Walker put another $100,000 into his criminal defense fund, and he says he's paying people to cooperate with prosecutors, and go over thousands of documents.
He's now transferred $160,000 in campaign donations to the fund. Several of his former aides and appointees in Milwaukee County are facing criminal charges as part of a John Doe investigation.
The governor was in Appleton today, touring Laminations Central.
Walker's opponent in the recall, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, has been calling on the governor to release emails. Walker says he can't do that, because prosecutors told him they'd prefer he didn't talk about the investigation.
Walker has repeatedly said he doesn't believe he's a target of the investigation.
Walker says Laminations Central added some employees last year, and there are plans to add five or six more workers this year. He says whether companies are hiring five, 50, or 200 people, it shows the state's business climate is improving.
Barrett is making some campaign stops in southern Wisconsin today. |
