News » Outagamie Co. lends land for new garden
May 31, 2012 A program that encourages people to grow their own food is expanding on some land that's owned by Outagamie County.
The Community Garden Partnership is developing a new community garden on two acres of unused property that's next to Brewster Village in Grand Chute.
Director Susan Richardson says they have "market garden" sections, giving people with low and moderate incomes a chance to sell their products. She says people can rent plots, in the community garden section, to grow their own food.
Home Depot provided a grant, and volunteers helped fill raised planting beds with donated topsoil yesterday afternoon.
The new site is one of about a dozen in the Fox Cities.
