News » Study: 13% of pregnant women smoke
May 31, 2012 Efforts to keep pregnant women in Wisconsin from smoking cigarettes are stalling.
Maureen Busalacchi of Smoke Free Wisconsin says a UW-Milwaukee study found 13 percent of pregnant women still smoke, compared to the national average of nine percent.
She blames cuts in funding for prevention programs.
Busalacchi says smoking during pregnancy can cause a lot of harm to the mothers and their unborn babies. |
