News » Groups call for campaign finance reform
May 31, 2012 Campaign spending in the recall race for governor already topped $60 million, and that's leading a number of groups to call for campaign finance reform.
Mike McCabe of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign says Governor Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett should make a pledge to hold a special session to fix the system.
McCabe says the campaigns and outside groups have already spent $62 million, and that blew away the old state record of $37 million from the governor's race in 2010.
WISPIRG and the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups are among the other organizations that asked for the pledge, during a Capitol press conference this morning. |
