News » Responders talk about motorcycle crash
June 1, 2012 Emergency responders are talking about how they handled the aftermath of yesterday's crash.
Three medical helicopters flew four critically injured patients to Theda Clark.
Amy Puls is a flight nurse for Flight for Life, and she says the scene looked like a bunch of bowling pins were knocked over, but they were motorcycles. She says it was difficult to focus on the patient, but it's something they have to do, and they're trained to do.
Dr. Ray Georgen is the trauma director at Theda Clark, and he says the three bikers they're treating are in very critical condition, and things could change.
He says one of the men had some major trauma, and he went into cardiac arrest on the helicopter landing pad. He says they were able to shock his heart, and get it going again.
The families of the victims are creating a fund to help with their costs. People can donate at PNC Bank, to the MMG motorcycle tragedy fund. |
