News » Walker survives recall election
June 6, 2012 The recall race is over, and Governor Walker will remain the leader of the state.
Walker topped Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, in an election that easily broke the state's record for turnout in a gubernatorial election.
Walker says it's time to move forward. He says he believes there is more that unites people in Wisconsin, than divides them.
Walker says he's going to invite all lawmakers to a cookout next week, to talk about working together.
After calling Governor Walker to concede the race, Barrett told his supporters that he appreciates all of their hard work, and he hopes they continue fighting for what they think is right.
Barrett said the state is still deeply divided, and he hopes people can start to mend fences and work together.
