News » Baseball trip brings couple to Appleton area
June 7, 2012 Minor League Baseball brought an Ohio couple to the Appleton area, as part of a cross-country trip.
Matt and Carolyn LaWell are going to games at 120 different minor league parks, and they were at last night's Wisconsin Timber Rattlers game at Fox Cities Stadium.
Matt says they're documenting their journey online. Besides articles, they have pictures, and videos with players, coaches and staff members telling their unique stories.
Carolyn says it took about 40 hours to figure out their travel schedule. She says they didn't want to start in the Midwest in April, because of the unpredictable weather, so they went to Florida first. They then made their way across the south, to California, and zig-zaged their way through the western half of the country. Now they're in the Midwest.
The LaWell's are back on the road today, heading to a night game in Peoria, Illinois.
