News » UW-System to focus more on financial aid
June 11, 2012 A spokesman for the UW-System says student debt is a big concern for many families.
The UW Board of Regents signed off on a 5.5 percent tuition hike last week.
David Giroux says university leaders need to do a better job of explaining the difference between the sticker price of a college education, and the net price. He's comparing it to buying a car, because there are factory rebates and incentives.
Giroux says they've seen a big spike in applications for financial aid recently, but there's less money to go around.
The tuition increase means students at UW-Green Bay and UW-Oshkosh will pay an extra $330 next year. At UW-Fox Valley, it's an additional $250. |
