News » Appleton still waiting for first rain of June
June 12, 2012 The heat wave may be over in northeast Wisconsin, but the dry spell will stick around for a while.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Scott Cultice says Appleton hasn't received any measurable rain this month, and it will be at least a week before we have another chance for any.
Cultice says the Appleton area may be upgraded to "abnormally dry" in the next drought index, but we wouldn't be considered in a drought, for quite a while.
He says the last measurable rain in Appleton, fell on May 31 when we received a trace. The last one-inch rain fell on May 4.
Cultice says we are slightly above average for yearly precipitation for this time of year. |
