News » Lehman widens lead in close Senate recall race
June 12, 2012 A Democrat from Racine widened his lead in a close recall race that will determine control of the state Senate.
Racine County officials finished their canvass of last week's results, and Democrat John Lehman picked up 55 more votes over Republican Sen. Van Wanggaard. He now leads Wanggaard by 834 votes out of nearly 72,000 cast.
Wanggaard has to decide whether to ask for a recount. If he goes ahead with it, he would have to pay $5 per ward, because Lehman leads by nearly 1.2 percent.
Democrats would take over the majority of the Senate, until the November election, if the results stand. |
