The latest report on jobs in the state shows an increase of 900 last month, in the private sector.
Preliminary figures from the department of workforce development boost the number of new private jobs for the first five months of the year, to 12,900. That includes revised numbers from April that reduced the loss in private jobs by 1,900, to a decrease of 4,300 that month.
The report shows there were also 1,700 new public sector jobs in May, bringing the total for the year to an increase of 16,500.
The unemployment rate went up 0.1 percent in May, to 6.8 percent. |
