News » Kratz reaches deal in ethics case
June 15, 2012 There's a deal in the ethics case against a former Calumet County prosecutor.
Longtime district attorney Ken Kratz resigned in the fall of 2010 in the midst of a sexting scandal, and he agreed to plead no contest to six counts of misconduct for allegations of sexual harassment.
The Office of Lawyer Regulation initially filed 11 counts of misconduct, and there was a hearing scheduled in Appleton on Tuesday. The agency agreed to drop the other five charges.
Kratz was accused of sending sexually suggestive text messages to a domestic abuse victim nearly two years ago, and the OLR reopened its investigation. Kratz stepped down a few weeks after the story broke, at the same time former Governor Doyle was taking steps to remove him from office.
The OLR was seeking to suspend Kratz's law license for six months.
The State Bar of Wisconsin's directory of attorneys shows Kratz's current address is in Pompano Beach, Fla. |
