News » Family dairy farms still dwindling
June 15, 2012 There's still a steady decline in the number of dairy farmers in Wisconsin.
State Ag Secretary Ben Brancel says there are now about 11,500.
Back in the 1940s and '50s, there were more than 100,000 family dairy farms in the state. While there are more "mega-farms," Brancel says the average size of a farm is still around 100 cows. |
