Government Accountability Board officials plan to order a recount today, after the apparent loser in a Racine County senate recall requested one last week.
Republican Sen. Van Wanggaard currently trails Democrat John Lehman by 834 votes, out of about 72,000 cast.
GAB attorney Mike Haas says the recount needs to be completed within 13 days of the order.
The Racine County clerk's office says the recount will begin on Wednesday. Racine County taxpayers will pick up the tab for most of the recount, but Wanggaard has to pay a $685 fee. |
