News » Graphic TV ads impact smokers
June 19, 2012 The number of calls to the state's tobacco quit line doubled, during a graphic TV ad campaign that shows the dangers of smoking.
That's according to Dr. Michael Fiore of the UW's Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention. He says many callers described themselves as "scared straight."
Fiore says more than 50 percent of smokers will die prematurely, if they don't quit.
Throughout the 12-week ad campaign, the quit line received nearly 3,900 calls. |
