News » Group calls for recall campaign finance reforms
June 19, 2012 Several Republican lawmakers talked about reforming the recall process over the past year, and now that the election are over, a government watchdog group hopes they move on some of those issues.
Jay Heck of Common Cause says if lawmakers decide to limit recalls to cases where a lawmaker is guilty of a crime, they should also consider reigning in unlimited campaign donations for recalled officials.
Heck also wants a new law requiring outside groups to say where there money is coming from, and require an independent board to handle redistricting.
He says they are all bipartisan issues, and can be done even if Democrats take control of the Senate. |
