News » Buchanan not interested in incorporation
June 21, 2012 The town of Buchanan won't be following the town of Harrison's lead by trying to incorporate into a village, anytime soon.
Harrison officials hope to learn by the end of the year if the state will approve its application, but Buchanan administrator Angela Gorall says her community isn't interested.
She says a couple of years ago the two towns looked at joining together to form the village of Darboy, but it didn't go any farther than that.
Gorall says Buchanan is supporting the Harrison proposal.
Gorall says if Buchanan incorporated, the western half of the town would qualify to become a village, but the east side would remain a town. She says that was the biggest sticking point for town officials. Gorall says there also wouldn't be an economic benefit to incorporation. |
