News » Appleton teacher receives major award
June 14, 2012 An Appleton East chemistry teacher is one of two Wisconsin teachers to receive the Presidential Teaching Award.
Kara Pezzi says she's strived to win the award since she became a teacher, and it's a major honor. She says she does her best to help her students understand chemistry, by having them do experiments they can relate to.
Appleton East Principal Matt Mineau says Pezzi puts in extra hours before and after school to meet with students who need a little extra help. He says she's an asset to the school.
Pezzi will travel to Washington D.C. later this month to receive her award. She'll also get a $10,000 prize. |
