News » Kratz wants to move forward
June 20, 2012 A former prosecutor in Calumet County says it's time to begin to repair what's left of his reputation.
The Office of Lawyer Regulation wants to suspend Ken Kratz's law license for six months, for sending sexually suggestive text messages to a domestic abuse victim.
Kratz resigned from his district attorney post in October of 2010, and he says a sex addiction and a dependence on prescription drugs contributed to his poor decisions. But he says they're not an excuse, and he deserves to be punished.
Kratz testified during a hearing on the misconduct allegations, in Appleton yesterday. He says he makes good decisions now and that's all he can do.
Kratz spent time in in-patient treatment, in Hattiesburg, Miss., and he goes to a support group four times a week. He says he's never been happier than he is now.
Judge Richard Kinney will make a recommendation on Kratz's punishment to the state Supreme Court, and justices will have the final say.
