News » Feds now pitching in for Fox River PCB project
Mar. 5, 2010 Federal funds will help pay for removing PCBs from the Fox River.
Congressman Steve Kagen says the EPA's deputy director agreed yesterday to use money from the Great Lakes Restoration fund on the project.
The Appleton Democrat says that fund has $75 million left over from last year's budget and $300 million is budgeted for this year. He says he's working with the state to get a share of it.
Kagen says the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers also gave approval to resume a dredging project in Green Bay. He says the port generates $70 million a year in economic activity.
Kagen says both commitments were made during a federal water resources committee meeting. |
