News » Saurbeir gets 40 years for beating death
June 14, 2012 One of the men convicted of killing a Calumet County man is going to prison for 40 years.
30-year-old Robert Saurbeir of Manitowoc entered a no contest plea to a charge of first-degree reckless homicide a couple of months ago, for the murder of 37-year-old Joseph Baer.
Court records say Saurbeir and James Loewe used a hammer, pipe, chain, and stick to beat Baer to death in March of last year. The three men knew each other, and the murder happened at a farmhouse in the town of Rantoul that Loewe was renting.
Loewe also pleaded no contest to same charge, and he'll be sentenced soon.
Once Saurbeir is released from prison, he'll spend another 20 years on extended supervision. |
