News » Kratz to fight law license suspension
June 18, 2012 A longtime prosecutor in Calumet County is fighting to keep his license to practice law.
Former District Attorney Ken Kratz is trying to avoid a six-month suspension, and he'll make his case tomorrow, in Appleton.
He agreed to plead no contest to six misconduct allegations, after the Office of Lawyer Regulation initially filed 11 counts against him. The OLR is seeking the suspension, and the state Supreme Court will make the final decision.
A case referee will hear testimony during tomorrow's hearing, and make a recommendation to justices.
Kratz resigned during a firestorm over a sexting scandal with a domestic abuse victim, in October of 2010. A number of other women came forward with allegations of sexual harassment.
Kratz plans to argue the suspension isn't necessary, and that he already hasn't been practicing law for six months. |
