News » Appleton employees to remove terrace signs
June 15, 2012 If you're holding a rummage sale in Appleton, and your signs are missing, the city probably took them.
Appleton police Lt. Pat Matuszewski says it's always been illegal to put the signs in terraces, boulevards, or other parts of the public right-of-way.
He says the city council recently gave the police...public works staffers, and other city employees the authority to take them, and throw them away.
Matuszewski says the old process was much more time consuming, because they had to contact the person who placed the sign, warn them, and give them a $326 fine if they didn't remove the sign. He says the fine is still available for repeat offenders.
Matuszewski says the new policy wasn't in place before this month's recall election. |
