News » Pearl Harbor veterans return home
June 20, 2012 Local veterans are back home from what some are calling the trip of a lifetime.
The number of Pearl Harbor survivors is getting smaller by the day, and a group from Wisconsin returned home yesterday from a five-day Old Glory Honor Flight to the Hawaiian islands.
88-year-old Firman Balza was among the youngest of the veterans on the trip. He says seeing the memorials, and taking tours in the harbor brought back a lot of memories. Balza says he also took time to remember his fellow soldiers who didn't make it back.
The honor flight was funded by donations, and Balza says he's very thankful for the people who made the trip possible. |
