News » Not guilty pleas entered in Appleton cold case
June 12, 2012 The suspect in an Appleton cold case is pleading not guilty.
The attorney for 57-year-old Roman Zareczny entered the pleas this morning in Outagamie County court, for three charges of sexual assault of a child.
Prosecutors accuse Zareczney of attacking a girl outside of Lincoln elementary school in November of 1989. Zareczny's attorney says his client couldn't have committed the crime, because he was bowling from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on the night of the attack, prosecutors say the girl was assaulted earlier in the day.
Judge Michael Gage scheduled a three-day trial starting September 5.
Zareczny was charged for the sexual assault of a girl at Reid golf course in April of 1989, but that case was dismissed because the statute of limitations ran out. |
