News » Van Hollen drops redistricting appeal
June 18, 2012 The redistricting lawsuit over the state's political boundaries is over.
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen is dropping his appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. As part of the decision, Van Hollen agreed to pay a Milwaukee immigrant rights group $185,000 in taxpayer money.
The group filed the suit, arguing that two Assembly districts in Milwaukee discriminated against Latino voters. A federal court ordered lawmakers to redraw the two districts. |
