June 21, 2012 The Fox Valley's metro areas added jobs last month, but they also saw small increases in unemployment.
Seasonally adjusted numbers from the workforce development department show that the Appleton area added 1,000 public and private sector jobs last month, to lead all three northeast Wisconsin metro areas.
The Oshkosh-Neenah metro added 500 jobs and the Green Bay area added 100 jobs.
The unemployment rate in Appleton climbed by 0.1 percent, to 6.1 percent, the Oshkosh-Neenah rate increased from 6 percent to 6.2 percent. Green Bay's rate also rose 0.2 percent, to 6.4 percent. The unemployment rate is not seasonably adjusted.
The state added 2,600 jobs last month, 900 were in the private sector.
The state's unemployment rate climbed 0.1 percent, to 6.8 percent. |
