What's Up » Garden Expectations Gardening Conference

Mar. 16, 2013
8:45 am - 3:30 pm

Liberty Hall
800 Eisenhower Drive
Kimberly, WI

The Outagamie County Master Gardeners announce their annual Garden Expectations Conference.

Stacy Tornio is the Editor of Birds & Blooms Magazine. She will share her love of backyard nature and gardening, while giving insights into the great articles and images captured within the pages of one of the most beloved backyard gardening publications in print today. An author and advocate for education, Stacy also is a Master Gardener and will bring her knowledge of gardening to our gathering.

Nate Bremer, Owner of Solaris Farms in Reedsville, WI, will share his well-earned experience in the care and selection of
growing peonies. What other plant could offer you disease and pest resistance plus beautiful foliage and flowers? Today’s cultivars have much more to offer than earlier varieties, which still hold a place in many gardens as well. For the last 13 years, Nate has been propagating, growing and specializing in field grown and tested Paeonia, Hemerocallis and Lilium to northern tier gardeners.

Bill Wright, Former UW Extension Brown County Urban Gardening Coordinator, spent many years developing and teaching
great gardening techniques. He will be sharing his knowledge on growing more vegetables in less space. French intensive
gardening was used by French market growers in the mid 1800's. This method of gardening can easily be adopted by the
home gardener.

A Panel of Experts will round out the day’s events with an interactive and fun exchange, answering questions from attendees about their gardening dilemmas. Conference registration is $35 and includes continental breakfast, lunch, snacks and refreshments. Door prizes, vendors, reference materials and information on the Master Gardener program will be available.
