On Tuesday, February 19th, 2013, Michelle Smithson’s husband was killed in a car accident during a snowstorm on his way to work. As a result of this tragedy, Michelle, who is pregnant with their third child, is left alone to care for their two, four year-old children, Mikey and Catie. Additionally, Michelle, who is a social worker in the Oshkosh Area School District, just started her job this year so the time that she is allowed off of work to grieve her husband’s passing and care for a newborn baby is very limited. As you can imagine, two young children, a baby on the way, a house, unexpected funeral expenses and no life insurance has left Michelle in need of our help. The Smithson family is one of the most generous and kind-hearted families known to the many people around them, and are very deserving of our support.
Friends of Michelle’s are organizing a benefit for the Smithson family to be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Dockside Tavern from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.
There will b entertainment by the Kevin Fayte Rock and Roll Trio, raffles and silent auctions. Additionally Dockside will donate 20% of the food sales that night. The money raised will be donated to the Smithson family to help with ongoing expenses.
