TeawhYB is a rapper originally from Green Bay. He’s not even 30 years old, but you can tell this man has already lived quite the life and has done a lot of reflecting. I was privileged enough to be able to go to Eau Claire, where he now resides, to sit down and get to know him a little better. Below you will find the casual sit down interview we had.
His inspiration is rooted in so many ideas and emotions that a singular answer wouldn’t do it justice. The potential to pave the way for the great minds that value positive thinking is a motivation for him. Helping others see the brighter side of things has always been something he prides himself on and music can be an extension of that. He wants to create music that spreads the right message which is why he won’t purposefully cuss, glorify substance abuse or exploit sexuality in his lyrics. He also wants to maintain a sense of gender-neutrality within his music which he doesn’t believe many artists have strove for. Disguising intimate ideas within a mainstream sound that promotes positive behavior is his vision. You can tell just by watching his expressions in his video how deeply he believes and wants to accomplish this. He just hopes everyone else can see it.
Aside from creating music, he also considers himself an advocate. Specifically on his website there are resources for those who are questioning their identity, contemplating suicide, struggling with addiction, or want to help someone else in need. These resources include: stop-homophobia.com, drugrehab.com, veteranscrisisline.com, and https:
The single we’re featuring, “Take You There,” is an upbeat unrequited love song with mainstream appeal that represents a common theme in modern relationship culture. We may have confidence in ourselves to give love or take them to it, however the other person “switches sides” with no regard. Particularly, “Take You There” is a story about having a connection but leaving it behind as the person is unwilling to “come out” of their shell. Suddenly that person revisits that love but quickly abandons due to fear of being exposed, leaving us feeling victimized. Despite seeing the love in their eyes, only they can make that decision.Notable Lyrics: “Can you realize, real eyes when you see ’em”, “Thought I realized, real lies when I heard ’em”
“Take You There” is released on all major digital distribution stores and available free at www.teawhyb.com
