It’s that time of the week! We’re getting a little thirsty as the weekend approaches. Sometimes we say f*ck it, go out on a Thursday just to muscle through Friday and into the weekend.
This week’s blog is going to be a little different as I am not going to feature a beverage, but rather places I like to go check out live music. A lot of place is Northeast Wisconsin have live music, but some buildings are just better with acoustics, space and overall atmosphere.
Short Branch (Neenah) – This venue is a repeat from last week’s Bloody Mary list, but also gets a nod for live music venue. They have the ability that a lot of places don’t, to have live music inside AND outside. Outside is a huge back area that is a perfect setting for live music where there’s a little stage, you can play bags and conveniently get a drink without having to go back inside. Who doesn’t love that kind of convenience? During the winter they have a setup inside, however, it does get a little cramped as there is not nearly as much space inside and it can get a little difficult to move around. Either way, they get the nod for overall environment and duality of having inside/outside music ability. A bonus is they tend to bring in many different genres so there is normally something for everyone every weekend.
Phat Headz (Green Bay) – This is a popular rock band destination and any metal head knows what this place is about. They have a big spacious stage for every band, a HUGE inside area so it doesn’t get crammed, but it certainly can fit in the people if need be. The bar is conveniently located in the center of the room that wraps around itself so there is no need to have to walk from one side of the room to the other. They have the usual bar games so if you wanna squeeze in a game of darts or pool while soaking in some live music, more power to you.
Anduzzi’s (Green Bay) – I’ve got to give the final nod to this place by the stadium. They’ve got that huge dance floor area, a wide open inside that and of course that awesome patio on the rooftop where they feature acoustic acts. They tend to get a wide variety of acts as well, feature bands before Packer games (’tis the season) and have the advantage of serving a full menu of food to help soak up the fun so you can sustain. My only gripe is with the upstairs where there is no bathroom. You still have to trudge your way through the downstairs crowd to get to the bathroom. The rooftop gives an awesome view of the stadium area and if the weather is right, can set up quite the romantic scene.
There are my live music venue picks for this week. If there’s a place you go to watch live music a lot that I did not mention, hit me up on Instagram, Snap Chat or Twitter @whatthechuck99. If you see me rockin’ out, come say hi!
