Welcome to another Thirsty Thursday which means it’s time for another edition of #ChucksChoice.
As I mentioned in my previously blog, I am part of a “Fun Run” through the Kewaunee County Tavern League. I talked about Smashed On The Rocks which I visited in September of last year. This fun run goes until February 10th, so at the time I was thinkin’, “I’ve got plenty of time to do this.” Fast forward to last week when I realized it was the first full weekend of January, I knew it was time to knock out some more of these bars.
On this venture, I wound up in Casco where I ran into this fine establishment, Moxie’s Supper Club in Casco.
As soon as I walk in, the owner, THE OWNER, looks at me and says, “It’s about time you showed up.” That takes a lot of moxie, (see what I did there), to look at a new customer and do that. That scored a lot of points for me and I thought to myself, “I’m gonna like this guy.” I really hope he’s reading this.
He took notice to my Kiss FM sweater and asked me about my job. He then proceeded to tell me jokes I could (or could not) use on the air. He’s entertaining. He’s my kind of guy. The inside has both a supper club and bar side. It’s really, really nice (the picture doesn’t do it justice) and the people (both clientele and employees), which can make or break a place, are what really made this place.
The owner is a huge, and I mean HUGE, Elvis fan. If you wanna score points with this guy, do something Elvis related.
They have your traditional supper club menu of chicken, ribs, steak & seafood including the usual Friday Fish Fry that includes Frog Legs.
If you ever make it up to Casco, and you really should explore that part of the state, make sure you stop here for dinner or a drink. Just not too many, because it’s a long drive back. Tell them I said hi and ask the owner to crack a joke or two for you.
Let me know what you think and as always, if there’s a place you think I should check out, hit me up on Instagram, Snap Chat or Twitter @whatthechuck99.
