Several stakeholders are talking about flooding in Northeast Wisconsin.
National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Last works in the Green Bay office.
He says this year is one for the books when it comes to issuing advisories for lakeshore flood watches and warning.
He took part in the forum along with Katie Sommers, with Wisconsin Emergency Management.
She says communities need strong zoning and building codes along with strong shore land zoning.
She says any federal grant money may not necessarily save a home but will cover costs to make the home livable again.
She says that could mean replacing a furnace or water heater but not replacing basement carpeting.
The average payment for individual assistance is about $4,000.
While work continues on developing a singular resource for flood victims the state recommends contacting the local county health department for the first recovery steps.
