A local group that’s fighting to save pensions is hoping the U.S. Senate will support their cause.
Congress passed a bill in 2014 that let fund managers cut retiree pensions by up to 60 percent.
Terry Black of Green Bay worked in a union warehouse job for 42 years. He says his was cut by about 42 percent, which added up to about $18,000 a year.
Brad Vaughn is part of the Green Bay Committee to Protect Pensions. It’s part of a larger, national group.
Vaughn says they’ve made 18 trips to Washington over the past four years and it’s paying off. The House overwhelmingly passed a bill that would put money back into pensions through government loans and bonds. Now it’s heading to the Senate.
