It took more than seven years to get going but work is underway on the new Mineshaft restaurant and game room in Oshkosh.
The building will start going up in the Aviation Plaza along South Koeller Street where the former Walmart was torn down in 2003. Mineshaft owner Tom Masters hopes to fill even more of that space in the future. He wants to be able to seat close to 1,000 people at some point.
Masters bought the site in 2012 but he couldn’t start construction on the new restaurant until the city approved $1.7 million dollars in TIF money earlier this year.
The Mineshaft should open in nine months.
