Jones Park returns as a concert venue for the Mile of Music festival today.
The first artists will take the stage at the new amphitheater around 12:30. Big crowds are expected in the newly revamped park today and tomorrow.
Festival co-founder Dave Willems is asking people to be patient. He says it’s the first event they’ve had there, but there are some logistical challenges with the size of the park. He plans to learn from things and get better in the future.
Jones Park was closed for the past two festivals. Organizers set up a stage at Washington Square to help make up for the loss. Willems says they’re keeping a stage there and adding three food trucks. He thinks it could be more of a spot to hang out.
