There are two proposed changes to state laws dealing with the sexual abuse of children by priests.
One bill would eliminate the statute of limitations on victims to file civil lawsuits. The current age limit is 35.
Debbie McNulty of Madison says it can take decades to step forward.
Another bill would eliminate what three Democrats are calling a loophole in the state’s mandatory reporting law. Clergy are required to report abuse, unless the accusations are made during a private conversation.
The leaders of Majority Republicans in the Legislature haven’t commented on the two bills yet.
